Park and Camping Facilities

FACILITIES AVAILABLE at the UEL HERITAGE CENTRE & PARK

The United Empire Loyalist Heritage Centre and Park offers a 72-acre campground and day-use facility to our visitors, located on the scenic shores of the Bay of Quinte. We are located conveniently along the Loyalist Parkway (Hwy #33) at Adolphustown, not far from the Glenora Ferry, and within a short drive from Kingston, Napanee, or Belleville. We operate daily from Victoria Day Weekend until Thanksgiving Day Weekend each year.  The park and campground are closed to visitors for the remainder of the year.

DAY USE:

Our park grounds provide a perfect day excursion destination for families.  We offer sandy beach areas for swimming.  There is ample parking and washrooms, both located near the activity area. The park grounds are an expansive area for day use, with plenty of shade, all close to the water. There are children’s play structures located in both the day-use area, and the east end campground.  In addition, the east end campground has horseshoe pits. Picnic tables are set up in the area, and for large groups or family reunions, we have a tented marquee area near the beach that can be booked. Daily admission to the park also gives admission to the museum. Seasonal day-passes are available.

ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES:

During July and August, our museum staff organizes children’s activities on Wednesday afternoons.  These activities are usually based on a heritage nature and are free with admission to the park.  Please book in advance with museum staff.

From time to time, our seasonal campers association also hold various activities including bingos, dinners, and musical entertainment.  The musical entertainment is held on the stage area located near the park entrance. There are also picnic tables located in this area.

CAMPING:

We offer both serviced campsites (water and electrical) and non-serviced sites, available for daily, weekly or seasonal.  Campsites are generous size on grassy lots, with or without shade trees.  Campsites are provided with picnic tables and a campfire area.

We allow only one RV and no more than two camping units per site. Facilities in the park are for use of registered guests only.  Registered guests must park on their assigned sites.  Visitors to campsites need to register at the gatehouse and park in the visitor lot.

WASHROOMS & SHOWERS:

There is a washroom building at each end of the park, with separate men and women facilities, plus a metered-pay shower room.  Portable toilets are also placed at the extreme ends of the park.  The west-end washroom building provides accessible service, and a portable accessible toilet is located near the entrance area of the park.

FIREWOOD & ICE:

Both firewood  and ice is available for sale at the Gatehouse located at the park entrance. Due to Ontario Regulations, campers are not permitted to bring in their own firewood, in order to curb the spread of problems such as the Emerald Ash Bore Beetle.

OTHER CAMPING FACILITIES:

GARBAGE: Campers must bag and remove garbage. Recycling bins are also available

DUMPING STATION: located at the east end washroom, free to registered campers

HONEY-WAGON: service available with 24 hour notice at extra charge

GIFT SHOP: located in the museum.  Some snack foods and beverages are available for purchase in the gift shop and at the gatehouse.

DISCLAIMER:

Beaches, shorelines, and playground areas are entirely unsupervised.  The safety and security of each visitor is his/her own responsibility, or that of a parent or guardian.
